This week has been absolutely exhausting, and it’s only Tuesday night! Usually my weeks just fly by here; they’re so short. But not this one.
John Teacher finally returned home from the hospital today- pneumonia free. So, he’ll be back to school tomorrow, healthy and happy, I hope. I’ve been covering all of his kindergarten and hagwon classes, making twice as many lesson plans.
I must admit. I have a problem.
I’m laminating happy.
Once I discovered that we have a laminating machine in the upstairs office, I suddenly want to cover everything in plastic! I’ve made lots of different games and activities for my students this week and they’ve just loved ‘em. And still, I’m not over this laminating gadget. At least I’ll be able to pass all my goodies on to the next teacher.
Well, I should probably get ready for bed. I’ve been going to bed so late since I arrived here- most nights around 1-2am. I’m not sure why. But, it has to stop. I need to get to bed earlier because it’s IMPOSSIBLE to sleep in here.
Between the rooster next door crowing every other hour and the sunlight pouring into my bedroom through my paper-thin window shades, I always wake up around 5:00. Of course, I go back to bed. Then, I’m awoken again around 7:00 by the construction workers just outside my window. Wood saws, nail guns, car alarms, wheel loaders, forklifts, and the other Korean teachers walking around our hollow building on wood floors are the sounds I wake up to just about every day.
I want to laminate that rooster’s mouth shut.
I don’t even need my cheap “Made in China” alarm clock that Jaydon got me. (Yup, even in Korea, everything is made in China.)
So, goodnight to you all. My Tuesday is over and yours is just beginning. Hope you slept better than I will!

I believe everybody should have one!
